I have been up since 2 am putting together a report. It has snowed today and another storm is moving in. At lunch, I looked out the south windows and there was the ol'herd of wild turkies. I counted 50. There were the few usual males but the head male was along. He is well over 40 pounds. He is funny. I go outside and run at him and gobble. He flairs his tail and his neck feathers and runs at me and gobbles. Cheeky bastard. We call him Carlos. [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

When people think of the turkey, they think of the domestic turkey. I would never refer to someone as a domestic turkey. That would be like calling them a Republican or a conservative. You know: someone without the sense that the Good Lord gave a rock. [img]biggrin.gif[/img]

If you spend some time with the wild version [as I do since they control a large part of my property] you will find that they are different. They strut and bluff; still they back it up. A month ago I saw them gang up on a fox and send him howling. The pup gives them a wide berth, because he knows better than to bother them.
